This Workshop on Network Technology is held from 17 to 22 April 2005, in conjunction with the sixth meeting of the African Network Operators Group, AfNOG 2005, which takes place on 24 and 25 April 2005, and with the second public meeting of AfriNIC, AfriNIC II, which takes place on 26 and 27 April 2005.
The venue for both the Workshop and the AfNOG and AfriNIC meetings is the Instituto de Formação das Telecomunicações in Maputo, Moçambique.

This workshop builds upon the experiences of the previous AfNOG workshops held in Cape Town (South Africa) in 2000, Accra (Ghana) in 2001, Lomé (Togo) in 2002, Kampala (Uganda) in 2003, Dakar (Sénégal) in 2004, and the Internet Society's INET workshops held from 1993–2000 at eight locations around the world.
The goals of the Workshop are:
An intensive program of instruction is planned for the workshop, composed of three instructional tracks in English, and one in French. Participants attend only one of the tracks, since the tracks run concurrently.
