Origin

• Conveys the origin of the prefix

• Three values:

  • IGP – from BGP network statement
    • E.g. – network 35.0.0.0
  • EGP – redistributed from EGP
  • Incomplete – redistributed from another routing protocol
    • E.g. – redistribute static

• IGP < EGP < incomplete

  • Lowest origin code wins
