• Conveys the origin of the prefix

• Three values:

  • IGP - Generated using “network” statement
    • ex: network 35.0.0.0
  • EGP - Redistributed from EGP
  • Incomplete - Redistribute IGP
    • ex: redistribute ospf

• IGP < EGP < INCOMPLETE
